The Vancouver Dragons were a proposed expansion team set to play in the Continental Basketball Association. Team rights were owned by Michael Tuckman, president of West Coast Sports, LLC. The Dragons were initially slated to play in the ABA along with Tuckman's other teams. This will be the fourth time Vancouver will have a professional basketball team, the first being the World Basketball League's Vancouver Nighthawks, the second being the NBA's Vancouver Grizzlies, followed by the International Basketball League's Vancouver Titans.
The Vancouver Dragons deferred participation in the 2007-08 season citing arena issues. Most recently, the Dragons were waiting until the conclusion of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver to launch the team for the 2010-11 season.
At the present time, it is highly unlikely that this team will be joining the CBA. The Dragons website is now inactive, they have received no media coverage, and there has been no news from the league.
